Autism spectrum disorders: For parents of kids with ASD



The NeuroDevelopment Center is offering a guidance, education, and support group for parents of individuals who have been recently diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

 

The group is designed to provide parents with the opportunity to discuss their experiences with other parents and to obtain practical information about ASD that addresses the following areas:

 

  • Education about Autism Spectrum Disorders and what the diagnosis means for parents and their child
  • Providing information about the various options for intervention
  • Helping parents advocate for their child within the school system and get connected with appropriate support and services
  • Providing an opportunity for parents to meet and develop relationships with other families going through the same process
  • Managing stress
  •
